As the weather warms up, more people get vaccinated and COVID numbers steadily decline, outside is opening up… just in time for Chicago’s best season!
Chicago has joined the rest of Illinois and is officially in the bridge phase, which is leading up to everything being fully open sometime next month, perhaps as early as June 11th.
Restrictions have been relaxed even more, especially if you’re vaccinated… you’ll see more people out and able to gather in greater numbers closer to normal capacity. Bars and restaurants will still require masks for now, regardless of vaccination status, until they get clear guidance from city health officials.
To celebrate, Six Flags Great America has donated 50 thousand tickets (worth $4 million) to give away to newly vaccinated people. They’ll be given away at various local health departments and vaccination sites to encourage people to get their shots and come back to the park.
Wrigley and Guaranteed Rate Field are offering incentives for the vaccinated too… if you show your card, you’ll sit in a special section. I hope they’re the best seats in the house!
And plans have been announced for the return of Lollapalooza to Grant Park and RiotFest in Douglass Park later this summer.
Whatever you choose, have fun – be safe – and don’t let me EVER hear you say you don’t have anything to do!
