Chicago’s top health officials reinstated mask requirements on Friday afternoon or everyone over the age of 2 in indoor settings… amid news that the city had topped out at over 200 new COVID cases per day.
Fears are high that our city will become the epicenter of an even bigger spike with Lollapalooza poised to become a super spreader event… close to a half million people are expected to roll through the gates over the weekend. But organizers say 90 percent of attendees have presented proof of vaccination.
The biggest issue now is that the Delta variant of the coronavirus is highly contagious – as bad as chicken pox – and that even vaccinated individuals can spread the virus, which hasn’t been the case with other versions of the virus.
The good news is that if you’re vaccinated, the chances are really low that you’ll get seriously ill or be hospitalized… 97% of all cases of hospitalization or death are among the unvaccinated. Which is why many are speculating that President Biden will issue a vaccination mandate, as he hinted to reporters Friday that more COVID restrictions could be coming.
Wear the mask, get the shot, wash your hands, keep your distance… be safe, beloveds. BE SAFE!
