Omicron is no joke… yesterday, Governor Pritzker expanded access to testing and vaccination at clinics to stem the tide of the highest surge in covid cases during the entire pandemic.
Health officials are really concerned that New Year's Eve is fast approaching... with the parties that come with bringing in the new year, they fear that the surge could get even bigger and begin to strain capacity at area hospitals.
And it got much worse than anybody thought very quickly... Dr. Ngozi Ezike, director of the Illinois Department of Public Health said, "Right now we're absolutely seeing the highest surge in cases from across the entire pandemic for the last two years."
The ripple effect of this is being felt at airports all over the world with more canceled flights and delays... keep an eye on your plans if you were planning to dip out for the new year. Chicago airports also reported dozens of canceled flights once again Monday as the omicron variant caused airline staffing issues during this busy holiday travel period. Staff and crew are calling out sick all over the world with more than 2,800 flights canceled yesterday and almost 11,000 delays.
Y’all be careful out here… mask up, stay distant, get vaccinated, boosted and stay safe.
