This is Community Connect, where we hook you up and help you out with resources you can use and give support where we can…
This month is Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month. Older Black Americans are twice as likely as white Americans to have Alzheimer's or another form of memory loss. My dad had a rare form of dementia at the end of his life, so supporting efforts for others like him, caregivers like me and anything to end the disease is especially important to me.
So tomorrow, I’m the emcee for Illinois Women Conquer ALZ annual Power of Purple garden party and luncheon to raise awareness, provide care and support, plus fund the cure at Galleria Marchetti in the west loop at 11am. I hope you’ll join me or make a donation if you can.
Please know that you can always turn to the Alzheimer’s Association of Illinois for help and resources for yourself or a loved one.
