Remember the “Corn Kid,” 7-year-old Tariq who went viral while professing his love of the vegetable earlier this year?
The young social media sensation used his newfound fame to do good for Thanksgiving. The native of Brooklyn, New York joined the Jolly Green Giant mascot and helped nonprofit organization City Harvest distribute food for those in need. They packed 90,000 cans of vegetables – 50,000 of which were cans of corn – along with dried goods and 13,000 turkeys for this year's holiday meal boxes.
The second grader told reporters, “What is Thanksgiving without corn? I mean every day could be a holiday if you get to eat corn at some point, but this is the one day we get to stay home with family, watch a big parade, and then eat corn. Lots and lots of corn. It's my favorite day of the year.”
