This week's Community Connect is all about sharing the spirit of the season!
Get your holiday wreaths and ornaments that support youth in our community on their path to economic independence. Interns at the non-profit Love Unity & Values Institute design and produce the live wreaths and ornaments as they learn how to be entrepreneurs through the Journey to My Better Self Career Academy. Proceeds from the sales of Wreaths of LUV support the program year-round and provide the interns with a paycheck. You can see their wreaths and décor on the streets of several South Side neighborhoods. Get your wreaths and other holiday items here.
And My Block, My Hood, My City is adding to the festivities as they bring holiday lights to homes along King Drive and the surrounding communities. They’ll start decorating at 1pm and finish with a celebration featuring live performances, a tree lighting ceremony, plus hot cocoa and treats. They're welcoming volunteers and those who want to have their homes decorated at this link.
