Actress Sonya Eddy, perhaps best known to soap opera fans as Nurse Epiphany Johnson on ABC's General Hospital, has passed away at the age of 55. Her last appearance on the show was in October, in the role she’s played for 543 episodes since 2006.
After her passing was announced on Tuesday, General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini extended his condolences to her family, friends and fans, saying, “The lights in the hub of the nurse’s station will now be a little dimmer, but her spirit and light will live on in both the show and our set.”
Her friend, actress Octavia Spencer posted a sweet tribute saying, “The world lost another creative angel.”
