Lots of history-making women in today's Black People Magic!
Queen Latifah made history this week as the first female hip hop artist to have an album added to the National Registry of the Library of Congress. Her debut album, All Hail the Queen was added in the class of 25 inductees of culturally, historically or aesthetically significant work. The list also includes Chicago’s own Koko Taylor’s Wang Dang Doodle and the first reggaeton song to be added, Daddy Yankee’s Gasolina.
& Congratulations to NCAA Champion Angel Reese of the LSU Tigers… the Bayou Barbie is projected to become the highest-paid athlete in women’s college basketball. The Women’s Championship broke viewership records, reaching 9 million people and Reese gained over 2 million followers across social media during March Madness. Her name-image-likeness (NIL) evaluation rose to $1.3 million. Reese has deals with major brands including Turbo Tax, Wingstop, Bose and Outback Steakhouse.
& Remember to always celebrate your magic! xo
