Community Connect has resources for free family fun this week during the 39th Annual National Night Out Against Crime.
The celebration happens every year on the first Tuesday of August – this year, that’s August 1st. The goal of the gatherings is to build and grow relationships between neighbors and with law enforcement to support a true sense of community.
Many police districts in Chicago and suburbs are hosting free events for the whole family on this coming Tuesday:
- The 7th District Englewood Police Department will host their event from 3pm -7pm at Murray Park, 1743 W. 73rd with free giveaways, food and more!
- The 8th District Police will host an event at West Lawn Park, 4233 West 65th Street starting at 4 pm with kiddie train rides, raffles, snow cones and gift bags, plus a Peace March at 6:30 and Movie in the Park “Encanto.”
- Oak Lawn Police and Fire Department host their activities on Tuesday from 6-8 pm in the municipal parking lot behind village hall, 9446 Raymond Avenue. They’re giving police and fire station tours, with a burn demo by the Fire Department, Paw Patrol Chase and Marshall, K9 demonstrations, face painting, and more.
And even though it’s cooling down a bit this weekend, after the extreme heat during the week, remember that the city has resources to help keep you cool… call 3-1-1 to find the location of the nearest cooling center, request a senior well-being check or to report a violation of cooling requirements.
Remember, our community moves forward in the best way possible when we all get the help we need and give the help we can!
