Community Connect is all about supporting our community... and fall means doing that during walk season for many worthy causes.
Today is UNCF’s 40th Annual Walk for Education in Burnham Park, 39th and DuSable Lake Shore Drive. Registration opens at 7am with festivities before and after the steps off at 9am. You can run or walk the 5K route or bike or skate the 10K. Support the United Negro College Fund in raising scholarship money to support deserving students at HBCUs.
Next Thursday is Alzheimer's Awareness Day around the world and walk season continues the work of expanding community knowledge about the disease while raising funds in the search for prevention, treatments and eventually, a cure. Kankakee, Rockford & DuPage County host their Walk to End Alzheimer’s this weekend, Southwest Suburban & Will County are next weekend, then the Chicago walk is October 7th at Soldier Field. Register for a walk near you by finding the list here).
Remember, our community moves forward in the best way possible when we all get the help we need and give the help we can!
