The United States Mint announced the final honorees of their American Women Quarters Program, which puts the faces of famous women on our money. Two prominent Black women in American history made the list for 2025… Ida B.Wells and Althea Gibson.
Ida B. Wells was an investigative journalist and civil rights activist who lived here in Chicago and helped establish the NAACP… Althea Gibson broke the color barrier in professional tennis, winning 11 Grand Slam titles and also becoming the first Black player on the WPGA Tour.
The coins will also feature Juliette Gordon Low, who founded the Girl Scouts of America in 1912; Dr. Vera Rubin, a trailblazing astronomer who pioneered work on galaxy rotation; and Stacey Park Milbern, an influential activist for people with disabilities.
The Mint will unveil designs for the 2025 honoree quarters next year.
Remember to always celebrate your magic! xo
