Community Connect is all about finding resources you can use… and this week, it's about making the holidays brighter for those in need!
Today, My Block My Hood My City hosts their annual “Be a Part of the Light” community celebration at Park Manor Christian Community Church at 83rd and King Drive (8330 S. King Drive). It starts at noon with a tree lighting ceremony, food, hot chocolate, cozy warming tent plus live performances from Danny Boy, Sandy Redd, Slique Jay Adams and more. It’s all free AND they’re decorating over 500 homes and street poles for the holidays. Check out their website here to sign up and help them reach their goals.
And tomorrow the 46th Annual Toys for Tots Motorcycle Parade roars up Western Avenue from the Dan Ryan Woods at 83rd Street winding through the city along a 20-mile stretch to the North Side. Tens of thousands of bikers participate in the “largest motorcycle parade in the world.” The festivities start at 9:30am and is expected to end by 4 pm. The cost of entry is at least one new unwrapped toy to donate.
Remember, our community moves forward in the best way possible when we all get the help we need and give the help we can!
