Congratulations to Dionne Warwick and Queen Latifah… they were honored for their lifetime of artistic achievements at the 46th Annual Kennedy Center Honors that aired on Wednesday night.
At 82 years old, actress, singer, tv host and activist Dionne Warwick is still working her craft. She’s a Lifetime Achievement Grammy winner who’s sold over 100 million records in her 60 years in the recording industry… and she just dropped a duet with Dolly Parton,“Peace Like a River,” and is working on the gospel album, “Songs of Inspiration.” In her acceptance speech, she said music is “absolutely necessary for the world to survive.”
And Grammy, Emmy, Golden Globe, SAG and NAACP Image Award winner Queen Latifah said her honor was really special because it was part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of hip hop. She added that she hopes that it continues to be “recognized as a true American art form… and continues to grow from here and really be treasured as what it is.”
The other Kennedy Center Honorees this year are actor/comedian Billy Crystal, 5-time Grammy-winning opera diva soprano Renee Fleming, and Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees!
& Remember to always celebrate your magic! xo
