The Democratic National Convention started today at 5:30pm and runs through Thursday at the United Center in the evenings, and at McCormick Place during the day for official party business and meetings. It’s the party’s first in-person convention since 2016 and they’re making a party of it with a DJ and surprise guests!
More than 4,000 delegates will be in Chicago to recognize Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee and approve the party's platform. President Joe Biden will address the convention tonight, along with speeches from Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and First Lady Jill Biden.
Tomorrow, former President Barack Obama will speak along with Governor JB Pritzer and on Wednesday former President Bill Clinton and Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi of California will speak. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is expected to take the stage Wednesday to officially accept the vice presidential nomination and Vice President Harris will formally accept the presidential nomination during her speech Thursday in a night dedicated “For the Future.”
You can watch the festivities live on C-SPAN or their website and YouTube channel and the DNC website. Also look out for our own Sundance to be one of the DJs at the convention this week!
