Community Connect is here to hook you up and help you out with resources you can use... this week it's for recovery of all kinds as we wind down September’s National Recovery Month.
Tomorrow, Brighter, Behavior, Choices and the Teech Foundation are hosting their Recovery Community Affair from noon-5pm at Recovery Café Chicago at 65th & Western (6506 S. Western Avenue, Chicago)… it’s free for all to attend for the whole family and they’ll have free food, raffles, games, face painting, and networking resources plus giveways of school supplies, children's coats, clothes and essentials. They say, recovery is possible for everyone. We are all recovering from something, why not do it together? Funded in part by the Illinois Department of Human Services’ Division of Substance Use Prevention & Recovery. Get all the info at the flyer below.
And FEMA Disaster Survivor Assistance teams are in our area to help you if your home was damaged in the storms that hit in mid-July. These teams visit communities designated as federal disaster areas to help homeowners and renters alike get the help they need from FEMA, as well as provide application status updates and referrals to additional community resources. You can also apply for help online by visiting DisasterAssistance.gov, downloading the FEMA mobile app or calling 1-800-621-3362.
Remember, our community moves forward in the best way possible when we all get the help we need and give the help we can!
