Community Connect is here to hook you up and help you out with resources you can use… we're celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness Month and a Chicago champion!
Breast cancer affects our community at higher rates and mortality than other communities so it’s up to us to raise awareness about it and preventive care as well as support each other… that’s what Sista Strut is all about so we hope you’ll join us at 9:30 this morning at the Salvation Army Kroc Center at 1250 West 119th Street. It’s free to register and you can still participate this morning… we’re also welcoming donations to support the Sisters Network Chicago. Find all the info you need at this link.
Plus, U.S. Olympic Gold medalist Shamier Little is back home in Chicago for the first time since she won in track & field at the Paris Olympics this summer! The Chicago Park District has partnered with BOWA Gives that supports underserved youth through education and experience in sports to celebrate her wins! Shamier will meet and greet fans and talk about her journey from her first Chicago Park District track meet at the age of 5 to her rise to the Olympics. The The free celebration will also feature light track activities, all ages welcome! It’s all today from 10am-noon at Washington Park, 5531 S. King Drive. See more at the flyer below!
Remember, our community moves forward in the best way possible when we all get the help we need and give the help we can!
