Chicago sports is up for grabs over the holiday weekend… nobody’s waiting until the new year to make changes.
On Black Friday, all anybody could talk about was the Bears front office decision to finally let Matt Eberflus go after a 6-game losing streak after that heartbreaking Thanksgiving Day last-minute loss to the Lions 23-20. Not long after he held a Zoom news conference saying he felt confident in leading the Bears forward, he got the new he was fired. Thomas Brown, who was recently named interim offensive coordinator will take over as interim head coach as they hit the road Sunday at the 49ers.
And reports say the Chicago Cubs have added Matthew Boyd to their starting rotation in a $29 million, two-year contract with the veteran left-hander. It’s the team’s first big off-season move that could earn Boyd an additional $1 million in performance bonuses over the next two years. Boyd has had injuries in the past and just came back from Tommy John surgery in August, which I had to look up… it’s ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) reconstruction, a surgical procedure that repairs torn ligaments in the elbow.
Here's to our teams doing better!
