Could this be the end of an era for luxury retailers? Shopping malls are not what they used to be. Many are closing, or the anchor stores that shoppers flock to are closing. I think the outlet malls and discount stores are giving them a run for their money - literally. Gone are the days of paying a gazillion dollars for an item, and I think Neiman Marcus may be one of those retailers feeling the effects of luxury spending. Most Americans just can't afford it these days. Word is Canadian department store Hudson's Bay may buy Neiman Marcus.
