Boy, 11, found shot to death in West Pullman

An 11-year-old boy was found shot to death in the city's West Pullman neighborhood.

The child, identified as Jechon Anderson, was found just before 1 a.m. Monday in a residence above a shuttered thrift store, near 119th Street and Peoria. He was staying with his father.

The boy was shot in the head. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office has not ruled on whether that was the official cause of death.

Police said he was found in a pool of blood. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His mother said he was very sweet and had a big heart. Jechon’s mother’s family said police never told them about the shooting. They heard about his death on the morning news.
