This story about an alleged attack on actor Jussie Smollett has really swirled out of control. It's one thing to be trending for a couple of days with today's news cycle, but to be in the news as a top story for three weeks in a row is very surprising.
Now if Jussie is indeed lying about an alleged attack that took place last month in Chicago's Streeterville neighborhood, then yes that is newsworthy because falsifying information is a felony. But to see this story unravel day after day is really beginning to be quite painful.
Has anyone considered the fact that perhaps Jussie is going through some type of issue in which he feels he needs attention from something or somebody? Who would orchestrate an attack, especially when you're a successful actor on a prime-time television show? Plus he's attractive, well-liked, popular and talented. Why?
Well just like this story, the motive for this seemingly orchestrated attack remains a mystery. I think some of the people who are closest to Jussie should have a conversation with him and see if he is mentally stable. But there is no hard evidence that he lied about being attacked on that sub-zero degree day in January, but until the truth comes out I will continue to pray for the brother, whether he is a victim or not.
