The recent story of a group of youth beating up a 15-year-old girl with a disability is more than appalling. Why in the world would someone who has a physical, mental or emotional disability need to be harmed? There is no excuse for this type of behavior and those who are responsible for it should really take a close look at their morals and values.
I was shocked to see the video of the incident on the news, and although it was blurred so you couldn't see details, it was nevertheless sad to see. People with disabilities already have enough to deal with and to cause them harm is heartless.
There was another news story this week in which a man in suburban Bartlett punched and kicked a store bagger who has special needs. Really?
Violence against one another should stop, and it should never exist involving those who may not have the full capability of understanding or the ability to defend themselves.
