Give Yourself Some "Me Time"

It seems like winter and cloudy days last forever, especially if you live in Chicago. But spring is around the corner. In the meantime, take time to take care of yourself. You work hard, you maintain the household, you're always finding ways to help others and make other people happy and sometimes in the midst of all of this you may be neglecting yourself.

This can be unhealthy on a lot of levels. It is so important that you put yourself first. You know how the flight attendant says "Put your oxygen mask on first then assist others?" Well that is so true, if you are not right, how are you going to help the ones you love and care about?

Do not neglect yourself! Take a quick trip somewhere to see new sights and break your monotonous schedule. Go to a spa and get a massage. Go on a date night that you may be long overdue for, whether with that special someone or with the girls or guys. Buy yourself something nice - and it doesn't have to be expensive either. And most importantly if you need mental health therapy or advice, please get it. That is not something to be embarrassed about or ashamed of. Mental illness is real and should be taken seriously.

Take care of you! Somebody needs you and many people, including myself, care about you and want you to be well.
