Please don't get me wrong, but some of these professional athlete's contracts are outrageous. Kansas City Chief's QB Patrick Mahomes received a contract extension for 10 years, worth $500 million. I'm happy for him, he deserves it. Young dude, took his team to the Superbowl and he worked hard to get where he is, but wow.
I just can never find the reason as to why money like this is spent on one individual and there are so many impoverished communities that could do far better with a fraction of that money. I never understood where or how come so much money is available for athletes, yet people are homeless, hungry and many neighborhoods lack resources so residents could have a better quality of life?
I guess I'll never know the answer to that question but I just wish more money could be allocated for things that are necessities and not just for entertainment purposes.
