Whitney Young HS holds first CPS active shooter drill

Whitney Young High School held an active shooter drill on Thursday.

Hundreds of people participated in a joint training exercise Thursday evening including police and emergency responders.

In Chicago, and schools across the country, active shooter drills are becoming more common.

Police recruits role-played as students. About half of the school’s faculty and staff volunteered to participate. Actual students were not involved. They have their own drills throughout the school year. In this day and age it is a good exercise.
