Organizers of Lake Shore Drive protest not seeking mayor’s approval

Protesters are planning to shut down Lake Shore Drive Thursday afternoon saying the city needs to come to a stop-and-deal with the perennial problems of violence, poverty and racial discrimination. The march could cause problems on a night when the city is hosting one of the biggest events of the year, and organizers said they do not need the mayor's approval. Protesters are not seeking approval from anyone. They added once you seek and get approval, it is no longer a protest. It actually becomes a parade. They add that they want to disrupt Chicagoans because that's what happens to families when people are shot and killed in Chicago. Disruption.
