TV Mom Charlotte Rae of "Facts of Life" Dies at 92

I know you must remember the hit 80s TV show "Facts of Life." If you were a young girl in grade school or a teenager in high school that was the show to watch. It was about a housemother who taught the facts of life -- literally -- to a diverse group of girls at a boarding school.

"Facts of Life" was a spin off of another popular TV sitcom Diff'rent Strokes, in which Rae played the same character, Mrs. Garrett. Ms. Rae was an accomplished actress, honing her acting skills right here in the Chicagoland area, where she studied drama at Northwestern University before moving on to New York, where she appeared on Broadway. She has won several awards and received many accolades throughout her acting career, appearing not only on TV, but on the big screen as well.

Ms. Rae died Sunday surrounded by family. She was diagnosed last year with bone cancer following a battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 92.
