Downtown Chicago Hotel Workers Go On Strike Friday

If you work in the downtown area, you may have heard the chants of hotel workers this morning as you made your way into the office. Thousands of downtown Chicago hotel workers have gone on strike.  Workers from more than 25 hotels are participating in the strike, which was negotiated because hotel employees are trying to get better benefits.

Employees are demanding better healthcare benefits specifically, and they also say they deserve higher wages, workloads that they can manage, and sick days off so they can go see a doctor. No word on how long the employees plan on striking, could be a day, a week or longer. The hope is that they get not only what they want, but what they deserve. Shout out to everybody who works in the hospitality industry.
