Kanye West will be making a trip to the White House this week to speak with President Trump and his son-in-law Jared Kushner. The purpose of Ye's trip is to discuss an overhaul of the criminal justice system, creating manufacturing jobs for those who were previously incarcerated and other issues affecting our hometown Chicago, including the excessive gun violence.
Yeah I know a lot of people are not feeling Ye right now, wondering how in the world can this man be so cool with a leader who has done and said some of the most ridiculous things throughout his presidency. But all that aside -- and that doesn't mean I don't care or I agree -- but I'm just glad that Ye has a platform where he can actually go to the White House, sit down and break bread and talk to a person who can (if he's willing) make some changes.
The president has been saying some rather negative things about our beloved Chicago the past couple of years and now Ye can hopefully lead the charge to make some changes and bring some proposals to the table. Now you may be reading this saying "what in the world?" But yes, I'm glad that somebody is stepping up and at least taking a stand to help our city, and hopefully Kanye's celebrity will shed some light on what's going in our city and we can start seeing some changes. I guess you can say I'm so desperate for our city to heal that anything will help.
