I have yet to see Kanye West strolling down Michigan Avenue, or hanging out on the west side under the L tracks, or eating at a famous chicken joint on the south side. Not that that means anything, because we can't be everywhere all the time, but I thought 'Ye was going to be moving and shaking around The Chi.
I really hope he sticks to his word about coming back home and making change in our city. We could sure use his influence to make things better in our neighborhoods. I know 'Ye has a barrel of his own issues and some fires he may need to put out on his end, however at the end of the day he's still a superstar and people will at least pay attention to what he has to say.
It's unfortunate that our homeboy got caught up in some political circles that probably rubbed most the wrong way, but I think he has come to his senses, or has he? Either way the man has the right to his opinion, but back to Chicago ...
I hope 'Ye will use some of his celebrity power, financial resources and intelligence to help bring training, jobs and hope back to the city that has held him down for years. We could definitely use your help 'Ye and I'm sure there are people at the ready when you say the word -- including me.
