On March 29th, two female astronauts and a female flight controller will make history by conducting the first ever all-female spacewalk at the International Space Station. The news was first broken on Twitter by Canadian Space Agency flight controller Kristen Facciol, who announced that she would be on the console in Houston, Texas for the historic spacewalk.

I just found out that I’ll be on console providing support for the FIRST ALL FEMALE SPACEWALK with @AstroAnnimal and @Astro_Christina and I can not contain my excitement!!!! #WomenInSTEM #WomenInEngineering #WomenInSpace

NASA confirmed that astronauts Anne McClain and Christina Koch will make the seven-hour spacewalk.

"As currently scheduled, the March 29 spacewalk will be the first with only women," NASA spokeswoman Stephanie Schierholz told CNN.

McClain is currently aboard the International Space Station as part of Expedition 58 and will take part on a spacewalk with fellow astronaut Nick Hague one week before she steps out into space with Koch.

Koch is scheduled to arrive at the space station on March 14th and will be part of Expeditions 59 and 60.
