If you're one of the many people who will be hitting the highway for the extended Memorial Day weekend, please be aware that traffic in Chicago will peak Friday.
According to AAA about 43 million Americans will be traveling, up 1.5 million from last year. Many people prefer to drive to their destination during the extended weekend, but airports are going to be super busy too. The worse time to travel on the roads is between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. so I suggest you either leave prior to that or sometime this evening.
There are other activities happening in Chicago that will also add to the mix of lots of traffic. The Cubs play all weekend at Wrigley and on Saturday there will be a Memorial Day Parade stepping off at noon in Daley Plaza.
Safe travels and enjoy the holiday weekend!
