Chicago Public Schools Are Officially On Summer Vacation

More than 400,000 Chicago Public School children are officially out of school for summer vacation. That means it is time to really start watching traffic in streets as children will begin playing outside. It is also important that as parents you know where your children are at all times because there are curfew laws.

Weekday curfew for minors 12 to 16 years old is 10 p.m. Weekday curfew for minors under 12 is 8:30 p.m. Weekend curfew for minors 12 to 16 is 11 p.m. And weekend curfew for minors under 12 is 9 p.m.

And to make sure your child is active there are lots of free activities in the Chicagoland area where students can learn and have fun. Several museums offer free admission days and Lincoln Park Zoo is free daily. You can sign up your child at Chicago Park Districts, Boys & Girls Clubs and the Y. And most importantly, it is critical that parents keep track of the whereabouts of their children because unfortunately crime increases in the city during summer months.

I'm sending prayers that all of our children are protected and can enjoy a healthy and safe summer!
