As you're riding down a Chicago expressway or tollway I know you've seen those LED traffic signs a bunch of times, and probably wondered who is responsible for the messages. The posts are witty, sometimes sarcastic and more importantly they drive home the message about safety on Chicago's roadways.
If I had to guess, I think the person behind the signs is a millennial who knows exactly what verbiage will catch the attention of readers. Using trendy words like "bae," and pointing out the dangers of texting or looking at our phones in our lap is a sure way to get you to read the signs. On occasion the signs even have tie-ins to events taking place throughout Chicagoland like the Taste of Chicago or other events.
It is so important that we follow the rules of the road and put our phones down and drive with courtesy. And the next time you're commuting, take a second and heed the warnings those signs are giving you ... they're very effective.
