The 61st Annual Air and Water Show Flies Through Chicago This Weekend

The 61st Annual Air and Water show will draw thousands to Lake Michigan this weekend. This event is always so much fun for the entire family and this year promises to be even bigger and better!

There are several places where you can watch the planes do their daredevil stunts, and the boats thrill along the lake. North Avenue Beach and Oak Street Beach are premier locations, but keep in mind it will be packed and you have to bring your own chairs and/or beach blanket to claim your spot.

You can also view the show from cruise ships at Navy Pier, which offer meal packages too. Both the former John Hancock building and the Willis Tower give nice views from high above. Or, if you're like me I just stand pretty much anywhere around the downtown area and look up in the sky and see the cool aerial maneuvers. And if you want to see the water show, just simply move in closer to the lake.

If you are blessed enough to live in the downtown, near north or near south areas and face the lake, you won't even have to leave the comfort of your home to enjoy the show -- must be nice!

The oldest FREE Air and Water Show takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Both Metra and CTA will be adding service.
