Johnny Gill's "Soul of a Woman" is a nice midtempo song that gives us that gravel-like, churchy flavor that Johnny Gill is known for. He released the single in June and it is still going strong. In the video he features comedian Tiffany Haddish as his love interest, but there are no jokes this time.
I like the call-and-response with the vocals and of course Johnny's smooth baritone is flawless throughout. Johnny has made a transition from being a member of New Edition and recently wrapped up a tour with fellow bandmate Ralph Tresvant. After three decades, Johnny is still at it and the name of his latest album, Game Changer, is more than appropriate.
