It has been 20 years since his death and now Walter Payton will be remembered with a statue right outside of the place he called home -- Soldier Field.
The legendary Hall of Famer's statue stands 12 feet and weighs about 3,000 pounds, and will be located outside of Gate O at the entrance of the stadium's south side. The unveiling is all part of the big 100-year celebration of the Chicago Bears, which includes a viewing party on Thursday in Grant Park. Rapper Meek Mill and pop star Meghan Trainor will be performing.
Hall of Famer George Halas will also have a statue unveiled in his honor. The Bears take on rival Green Bay Packers in their season home opener. Go Bears!
