'Surviving R. Kelly Part 2: The Reckoning' Airs Tonight On Lifetime

I'm all about victims having an opportunity to give voice to the wrongdoings against them. But I'm trying to figure out why the Lifetime channel felt it was necessary to air another 3-part series of Surviving R. Kelly.

As Kelly sits in a federal prison in Chicago on several sex abuse charges across three states, I believe with the first documentary the point was well taken. It clearly has had an impact on the man's career and life. I don't know if adding the same voices and new ones for a second round was necessary in getting a conviction of said charges.

I certainly hope this is not a move on the network's part to again grab astronomical ratings, or for some to just have a "piece of the spotlight" by lending their comments on the situation. I just want the intention for these series' to be pure and purposeful.

This whole story is very, very sad, and there are so many moving parts to this saga that many Chicagoans have been aware of for years. But no matter how many TV shows air and no matter how many witnesses come forward, in the end, I hope that justice will prevail.
