It's really a new day when the royals begin to step back from some of their royal duties. And that is the case of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. I actually predicted that this would happen because we know Harry's late mother Princess Diana was not about that royal life and she taught her sons to be as normal as they could possibly be, although they were born into royaldom. Is that a word? Maybe not, but you know what I mean.
The Duke and Duchess have announced that they are going to be stepping back from public life as senior members of the royal family. In other words, these two lovebirds are going to take their son and try to live a somewhat normal life, out of the way of fame, fortune and especially paparazzi.
On Instagram the couple posted, "We have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution." Whoa. Sounds like this is the beginning to flipping the script on royal traditions. Part of that transition will include the family spending more time in North America, where they recently enjoyed a six-week sabbatical.
I'm sure the Queen is probably somewhere clutching her pearls, but at the same time realizing that the son of her former daughter-in-law is not playing games with that royal spotlight, the same spotlight that claimed his mother's life. Change is good Duke and Duchess, change is good.
