Super Bowl 54's Halftime Show Was A Show of Culture, Not Obscenity

Of course the day after the Super Bowl everybody is going to be talking about the Halftime Show and in my opinion Shakira and Jennifer Lopez did not disappoint. Their performance was high-energy, very entertaining and a proud display of "girl power" at its finest.

So the word on social media and by the water cooler is that the performance was too obscene, not suitable for children, not family-friendly and so on. Yes, there were some instances where I thought it may have ooozed a little extra sensuality, however the performance was predicated on both Shakira's and JLO's Latin culture.

If you go to different Latin carnivals and celebrations around the world, you will see that the style of clothing and dancing can be overtly sexual. In no way is it meant to be disrespectful, it is just simply part of the culture. All cultures are obviously different when it comes to certain things. But the true beauty of our differences is when we can accept it, appreciate it and respect each other.
