Globally we are approaching one million people being infected by coronavirus and a vaccine is needed quickly. Hopefully help is on the way, as $1B has been earmarked for research for such a vaccine.
Pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson and Moderna will work with the Department of Health and Human Services' Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) to speed up the process of developing clinical trials for experimental vaccines for both companies.
Just like the virus is accelerated, so should be the priority of testing a vaccine. Moderna has already started its vaccine trials, and the Janssen (unit of Johnson & Johnson) clinical trials are expected to begin this fall.
