If you have a driver's license expiring soon, don't worry about it because you will be granted an extension. Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White filed emergency rules that will extend driver's licenses, ID cards, vehicle registration and other documents for at least 90 days after the Department of Motor Vehicles facilities reopen.
You may have plenty of time because we are still under Governor Pritzker's 'shelter in place' order until April 30. So if that order is not extended, you will have until the end of July to renew. But if it is (which it very well may be), you'll have even more time.
And just a reminder for those of you who want to get a Real ID, that deadline has been pushed back until October of 2021.
