For years Chicago's Boystown neighborhood has been called by its nickname because it represents the largest gay community in the Midwest. But now a petition is circulating to have the name changed -- and for good reason.
This is a smart move because the word "Boystown" is gender specific and leaves out other people who are part of the LGBTQ+ community. Changing the name will discourage sexism, transphobia and racism, as many in the LGBTQ+ community have come under attack recently.
More than 600 signatures are on the petition.
