Statue Of Christopher Columbus Removed From Chicago's Grant Park

The controversial statue of Christopher Columbus has been removed from Grant Park. The statue which is located at Roosevelt Road and Columbus Drive has been the center of attention for several weeks.

Last week protesters attempted to bring the statue down but they were unsuccessful when police intervened. There were several people injured when when police clashed with the protesters who claim to have been protesting peacefully.

The statue was removed after an order by Mayor Lightfoot, and it happened during overnight hours after rumors of it coming down surfaced on social media. The Italian explorer has been associated with exploiting Native people in America.
