Macy*s, Bloomingdales Stores To Break Away From Shopping Malls

Two major retailers are planning to build smaller stores apart from shopping malls. Macy*s and Bloomingdale's are both under the Macy*s parent organization and plan on making the move in order to recover financially due to the pandemic.

Instead of closing stores like so many other retailers had to do, including sister store Lord & Taylor, the retail giants will begin rolling out the standalone stores in the fall of 2021.

It's apparent traditional retail is not what it used to be, with sales going down because of online shopping. So this is a good move for Macy*s and Bloomie's. They may even be starting a trend for other retailers to follow.
