THROWBACK THURSDAY: "Maria Maria" by Santana and The Product G&B

On the #BFX today during the "90s at 9" segment, I played "Maria Maria" by Carlos Santana and The Product G&B for all of our Mexican brothers and sisters who are still celebrating Mexican Independence Day.

Last night in Chicago's downtown area streets were blocked and there was traffic gridlock due to all of the celebrations. People were honking their horns, dancing on the top of cars, Mexican flags were being waved and there was music coming from all types of speakers!

What a great way to celebrate, in peace and in unity.

"Maria Maria" was released in 1999 and it was inspired by a Wu-Tang Clan song, and produced by Wyclef Jean. The song won a Grammy in 2000 for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals.
