Some Chicago Public School students may be returning to school for in-person learning as early as next month. School officials say that pre-K students and special education may be the first to head back to the classroom because of their unique learning experience.
Students with special needs and learning disabilities may return as part of phase one in the return to in-person classes. Most other CPS students, however will continue to learn remotely.
There is a petition to CPS to shorter the school day and also do away with homework while learning remotely. The students are complaining of headaches, stress and say it's difficult to learn when looking at a computer screen all day.
I don't know what the immediate future of our students will look like, but with cases of coronavirus on the rise doubled with flu season, it may be best to keep the kids home a little longer.
