Chicago, Suburban Cook County Stay At Home Advisory For Next 30 Days

The stay-at-home advisory for Chicago and Cook County suburbs went into effect this morning and will last for at least 30 days. In order to prevent the spread of coronavirus, officials are strongly urging residents to follow the following restrictions:

Stay at home as much as you can, only making essential trips such as grocery shopping, going to the doctor's office or pharmacy, picking up take-out orders or deliveries. If you must leave home practice social distancing, staying at least six feet from others.

Wear a face covering, and make sure it covers both your nose and mouth.

With Thanksgiving next week it may be hard but you are strongly urged not to have people who do not live in the household come over. The exceptions would be a home healthcare worker or educator.

Avoid non-essential travel. If you do go out of town it is best if you test negative prior to leaving and/or you must quarantine once you return.

If you do leave home, avoid touching surfaces that are frequently touched by others. Use the phone or video chat with family members and friends as much as possible so you're not tempted to meet with them in person.

Overall, use caution and be diligent in doing everything necessary to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Gov. Pritzker says he does not want to have to issue a state stay-at-home order where we would have to go back into a phase. I don't want that either!
