Harvard University Students Elect First Black Student Body President

This story makes me really happy and proud, but at the same time it makes me wonder why in the year 2020 does Harvard just now have its first undergraduate council president who is black?

I could go another direction with the story but I won't because I want to celebrate 20-year-old Noah Harris, a junior who is majoring in government at Harvard. He was elected by his fellow classmates to the position, making history as the first black student president.

Noah is also co-chair of the Undergraduate Council’s Black Caucus at the school, balancing all of this with his studies. Congratulations to the Mississippi native who is the first to achieve this goal in the school's 384 year history.

Sometimes progress takes time, but at least progress is being made.
