Dr. Fauci Says Live Music Could Return In Fall 2021 Under This Condition

It's been nearly a year since the coronavirus made its way to the United States and shut down the live music industry, and though we'll need to keep waiting to see a beloved concert, an end might finally be in sight.

As The New York Times reports, the US's top infectious disease expert Dr. Fauci conducted a virtual meeting during the Association of Performing Arts Professionals over the weekend, where he predicted venues could reopen “some time in the fall of 2021" as long as the vaccine rollout goes according to plan and 70-85% of the population is vaccinated to achieve herd immunity.

“If everything goes right, this is will occur some time in the fall of 2021,” he said, “so that by the time we get to the early to mid-fall, you can have people feeling safe performing onstage as well as people in the audience.”

"I think you can then start getting back to almost full capacity of seating," he continued, noting attendees will most likely need to wear masks for quite some time. "We’ll be back in the theaters — performers will be performing, audiences will be enjoying it. It will happen."

In the meantime, President Trump recently signed a COVID-19 Relief Bill that includes $15 billion in aid for live entertainment venues.
