As we near Black History Month there will be a brilliant light beaming on the achievements of black people in this country. Ideally I'd like to see the celebration of black history year round, especially considering the racial injustices and tension of the past several months.
But for an entire month we can reflect on those who have had an impact on our culture, those who have worked, bled and even died so that we could have opportunities in life. I salute my ancestors and the innovators, inventors, leaders and scores of others who have made a contribution to America.
